“I was a snob - I was like, no way I’m not doing that show.” Adam Goldberg almost wasted his chance in Friends because his ex starred in it
Adam Goldberg because of ex almost turned down a role in Friends, where he later gave an unforgettable performance as Eddie, Chandler's roommate.

Friends by stars of great caliber.
And yet there were some actors who were not interested in Friends. And they even tried to hate the series for various reasons. And one such person is Adam Goldberg, who eventually played the role of Chandler's memorable roommate Eddie in the sitcom.
The actor was not interested in the role in Friends. As he confessed during an interview with The Independent, he and his friends were “snobs” and wanted to stop appearing in TV shows. Along with them, he stated, “Oh, we're never doing TV again.”
It wasn’t super notable to me at the time, because I was a snob. […] I very specifically getting the call from my agent and them saying they were offering me this part, and that it started maybe two days later – everything’s always very fast in that world because you’re shooting an episode a week. And I was like, “No way. I’m not doing that show.” And my agent was like, “Yes, you are.”
There was another important reason for Goldberg why he didn't want to appear in Friends – previously, his ex starred in this TV show. For this reason, the actor wanted to hate the series so much that he initially couldn't convince himself to appear in it.
I was sort of bound up in all these ideas of what I was supposed to be doing, and also whatever weird personal baggage I was bringing to the situation. Like, my ex-girlfriend at the time, the love of my life back then, she had a guest role on the pilot episode. So I really rooting to hate it. These are the sorts of things that affect your decision!
Apparently, his agent was persuasive enough to persuade Goldberg to play Eddie. The actor was introduced to the series in the second season after Joey moved away from Chandler. Chandler, eager to prove he could cope without his friend, quickly brought a new roommate under his roof, which turned out to be a mistake.
