Kojima did in Death Stranding 2 what he talked about five years ago. He put a bandana on Luca Marinelli and turned him into Solid Snake

Five years ago, Kojima stated that Luca Marinelli would look like Solid Snake if he put a bandana on his head. He did so in the latest Death Stranding 2 trailer, which caused considerable excitement among fans.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. At the same time, the exact release date and pre-sale details were revealed.

What particularly caught the attention of fans, however, is the character named Neil, played by Luca Marinelli. He strikingly resembles the famous Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series. It turns out that this is not a random reference, but Hideo Kojima noticed the actor almost 5 years ago, which we can read about on his Instagram.

There are many actors that I follow. Luca Marinelli recently caught my eye after watching The Old Guard and Martin Eden. He played an impressive villain in They Call Me Jeeg Robot, but I think that he will break out soon, and his popularity will increase. Also, I think if he donned a bandanna, he'd be a spitting image of Solid Snake!

As the developer wrote in the last sentence, so it happened in the latest trailer. Around the 8:40 mark, Marinelli's character puts a bandana on his forehead, and the shot appears to have been directly taken from the Metal Gear remake. That was all it took to cause huge excitement among the fans, as is clearly visible in the comments under the video.

Kojima: "Screw it, give me Solid Snake."

Oh my God, he brought back Solid Snake.

You just know that Kojima will name this legally distinct Solid Snake something like Hard Viper.

This is not the only reference to the Metal Gear series present in the trailer. There, we can also see Magellan Man, a massive entity linked to the DHV Magellan vehicle, which somewhat resembles Metal Gear Rex.
