MultiVersus Will Shut Down After Season 5
The free-to-play platform fighter from Warner Bros. Games, MultiVersus, will shut down after Season 5. The game will be unavailable after May 30th, 2025.

Today, Warner Bros. Games announced that MultiVersus, the platform fighter featuring characters such as Bugs Bunny, Superman, Lebron James, and The Powerpuff Girls, will be shutting down. The Season 5 will be the final season. The new season will run from February 4th through May 30th, 2025.

While this is unfortunate news for fans of MultiVersus, there is a silver lining. In the announcement posted to the MultiVersus website, developer Player First Games explained that while all online features will become unavailable after May 30th, 2025, they will be implementing an offline mode. To access this, players will need to make sure they have installed or ed the latest version of the game and at some point during the new season which starts on February 4th. A local save file will be connected to whichever storefront you use to play the game.
Season 5 is planned to bring two new characters to the roster. DC’s Aquaman and Looney Tunes’ Lola Bunny. These characters will still be available and will be unlockable by playing the game during Season 5. Aquaman will be tied to the battle , while Lola will the daily calendar reward.
Starting today, Friday, January 31st, MultiVersus will no longer be accepting any real money transactions. Players will not be able to purchase any in-game currencies, but they can still use any accrued currencies on in-game content until the end of Season 5 in May. The free-to-play game will no longer be available to from any storefront once Season 5 is complete.
As a final note, the MultiVersus team thanked every player that ed their game, adding “We will be forever grateful for the incredible of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.” The team did not mention any specifics about why this will be the final season, leaving fans to speculate. MultiVersus originally exploded onto the scene in 2022 with its early access launch but then was never able to reach the same level of excitement after going offline for nearly a year leading up to the full launch in May 2024.
This is not the only Warner Bros. Games published live-service game to bite the dust this year. faced layoffs earlier this month as well. For now, we will have to wait to hear more about what might happen to Player First Games following this announcement.
