Sapkowski Delighted with Cavill's Geralt
The Witcher is one of Netflix's greatest successes so far. The author of the source material is satisfied with Henry Cavill's acting and compares him to Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings.

The Witcher's premiere took place only a few days ago and the world only talks about it ever since. Netflix's production divided the audience and critics. However, there is no denying that despite its extreme ratings, the series enjoys great popularity all over the world. This is evidenced by the growing interest in Sapkowski's books - Last Wish is number one on Amazon and Google (thus beating Tolkien and Stephen King's books). A huge leap in popularity was also noted in the video game trilogy from CD Projekt Red. The sure that the series would gain great popularity and claimed that it has a chance to beat such titles as Game of Thrones. Now the author has evaluated Henry Cavill's performance.
“I was more than happy with Henry Cavill’s appearance as The Witcher. He’s a real professional. Just as Viggo Mortensen gave his face to Aragorn [in The Lord of the Rings], so Henry gave his to Geralt — and it shall be forever so,” said Sapkowski.
During a conversation with Italian journalists, the writer was critical of the adaptation of his works.
"I don't care what is done with my character in the cinema or in any other context. Now, at this stage of my career, money means nothing to me. I created just like Leonardo painted the Mona Lisa."
The changed attitude towards the series may be influenced by the fact that Sapkowski has been invited to the set and personally supervises the production process of the Netflix-made Witcher. Although, as he says, he doesn't interfere too often with the vision of scriptwriters and directors.
