Front Mission 2: Remake is a remake of a tactical jRPG that was never published outside of Japan. The original, released in 1997 for the first generation of the PlayStation console, was developed by the G-Craft studio. In turn, its refreshed edition was created by the Polish team Forever Entertainment.
The game takes us to the year 2102, to the country of Alordesh (former Bangladesh) which is a part of Oceania Cooperative Union/OCN, consisting of Australia and nations of South Asia and Southeast Asia.
The game's campaign begins when a coup occurs in Alordesh, resulting in the military seizing power in the state and, after decimating local OCN troops, announcing their country's departure from the Union.
The plot revolves around three characters from the OCN forces - Corporal Ash Faruk, Captain Thomas Norland and spy agency officer Lisa Stanley. The characters will first have to help evacuate Union personnel from Alordesh, and then try to rescue people captured during the coup. As they do so, they come across information suggesting that the local military has received from a mysterious outside organization intent on destabilizing the region.
Front Mission 2: Remake develops the ideas from the first part. The game is a classic tactical RPG, in which the campaign is made up of a series of combat missions, allowing you to direct a squad of mechs, called wanzers in the universe of the series.
The gameplay takes place in a turn-based system. Each mech is divided into several parts (arms, legs and body), which can be damaged, affecting the performance of the machine. The game is varied by the honor system. Units surrounded by allies receive bonuses to their stats, while in situations when they are alone and surrounded by enemies their abilities are limited.
Between missions we go to the bases, where we can talk to the characters and improve the equipment and abilities of the pilots. Over time, characters gain talents that allow them to help other of the squad during clashes. One of the most important is the ability to form duos, allowing two mechs to perform coordinated actions, significantly increasing the power of their attacks.
The game only allows you to play in single player mode.
Front Mission 2: Remake offers a completely new graphics. All elements, including locations, models and textures, were made from scratch. At the same time, the authors took care to keep the specific atmosphere of the series.

Sometimes, having the most faithful remake doesn't mean it will be the best. I love Front Mission 2 and will always return to it, but this Remake may be hard for some people to accept and swallow with the lack of tutorials, hard-to-navigate menus, and a translation that could have used more time. It's still a fun game you must love to get through.
