The story takes us to 1970s, enabling us to assume the role of police officers that fight against crime that plagues the streets of Los Angeles. We are given several different heroes that are characterized by different backgrounds and abilities.
LA Cops for PC and XONE is an indie shooter developed by Modern Dream and released by Team 17, a studio known from the fan-favourite Worms series. The action takes place in the 1970s in Los Angeles, while the players assume the role of police officers fighting against the criminals that endanger the lives of ordinary citizens.
The gameplay itself is similar to what we could see in Hotline Miami. The action is seen from an isometric perspective, while the characters traverse through various buildings divided into small rooms. The fast-paced action and demanding opponents require adequate tactics, using the destructible environment, as well as efficient elimination of the targeted opponents. As police officers, we need to watch out for civilians, which often are the main objective of the given assignment.
We are left with a few police officers, each motivated by unique means which are learned through numerous cut-scenes. Moreover, the heroes are characterized by different abilities and traits, e.g. a larger number of health points, more ammo capacity, movement speed, or damage dealt. Our characters can utilize a number of weapons (pistols, sub-machine guns, grenade launchers, shotguns, rifles).
The game is characterized by a unique graphical style, influenced by classic TV series that took place in 1970s Los Angeles.

Game Ratings for LA Cops Video Game.
GameCrate: 5 / 10 by Robert Workman
L.A. Cops isn't a bad idea in itself, as it takes the concept of Hotline Miami and turns it on its head, making you the law instead of the law-breaker. However, its execution is flawed almost every step of the way, between iffy gameplay decisions, a lackluster presentation and having to work to unlock the awesome stuff, instead of just giving it to you right away. If you have to be the ultimate police officer, stick with Hardline instead.
PC Gamer: 50 / 100 by Sam White
LA Cops has some cool ideas, but the frustratingly shoddy execution works completely at odds with the experience the game is trying to create.
We Got This Covered: 1.5 / 5 by Chad Goodmurphy
LA Cops is an offensive and shitty video game, which does itself injustices by mixing terrible writing with bad and incredibly frustrating gameplay.
