Shady Part of Me is a platform puzzle game based on the skillful use of light and shadow to solve environmental puzzles in a mysterious hospital. Douze Dixiemes is responsible for the creation of the title.
Shady Part of Me is a narrative puzzle game with platform elements set in an oneiric world, where we play the role of a girl and her shadow. The game is the debut work of the independent studio Douze Dixiemes.
The game takes place in a hospital, from which we try to escape, playing the role of a little girl and a shadow accompanying her. Each of them has its own character traits, desires and aspirations, which, despite their differences, make it possible to form a unique bond. As the adventure unfolds, the player gradually discovers the relationship between the two, and their understanding of it enables the player to decide how to end the story.
Shady Part of Me is primarily a puzzle game observed from a side perspective, in which puzzles require the cooperation of both heroes. For this purpose, we switch between the three-dimensional girl and her two-dimensional shadow. At the heart of the game lies solving environmental puzzles using light and shadow and platform elements such as moving crates, switching levers, climbing platforms and much more.
Both characters have a common goal - to escape. However, the way of its implementation is different for each of them. Our task, by gradually discovering of the story, is to decide how to solve this dilemma.
The game adopts a comic book-like hand-drawn visuals that emphasize the contrast between light and shadow.
