The sixth installment in a popular series of arcade fighting games by Capcom. Street Fighter 6 introduces alternate control schemes for newcomers and the Drive meter used to execute special techniques.
Street Fighter 6 is the next installment in a series of Japanese fighting games developed by Capcom. The leitmotif of the sixth installment is street culture, manifested both in the visual layer (urban scenery, tons of graffiti) and audio layer (the dynamic rhythm accompanying gameplay).
The game features many returning characters, such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Guile. The newcomers include the dignified Russian Johann Pavlovich, the French supermodel Manon and the Italian Marisa with ancient Greek ancestry.
Street Fighter 6 is a classic 1-on-1 fighting game. The developers at Capcom have introduced alternative control schemes to make the game more accessible for newcomers. In addition to the classic scheme requiring memorization of complex button combinations to execute combos, there are also dynamic and modern schemes. The former assists the player by executing attacks automatically, while the latter simplifies special attacks.
Yet another aspect making the game more accessible is the Drive meter. One of its uses is executing powerful counterattacks or moves that absorb incoming hits and throw the opponent off-balance. To succeed, the player must keep using Drive to activate special attacks while making sure they don't run out, as it temporarily blocks off their most powerful techniques.
Street Fighter 6 features three primary gameplay modes. Fighting Ground features all submodes known from the fifth game, including regular 1-on-1 duels, ranked battles and battles with special rules.
World Tour is a story mode in which we create our own character and travel the world, fighting famous warriors along the way. We can also become their students and learn their techniques, such as the iconic Hadouken. If we can so wish, we can be mentored by several characters at once.
The last mode is Battle Hub, here for online play. Using the same character created for the story campaign we take part in limited-time tournaments and challenges or invite other people to compete against us at arcade machines inspired by classic Street Fighter games.

Capcom delivers and checks the majority of the boxes when it comes to the classic and new features of Street Fighter 6. It heads down a different direction making it more casual while maintaining the core values of the game, allowing it to be a mainstream fighting game for all players. However, with its awkward performance on the PlayStation 4. The concern is, will World Tour have more content and will the performance issues be fixed. We hope these will be addressed. In the meantime, it is recommended to play Street Fighter 6 on current-gen consoles and PC to fully appreciate and enjoy this game.
TheGamer: 5 / 5 by George Foster
As a fighting game, Street Fighter 6 is pretty much flawless, but it’s the little details across the board that make it clear that this is a fighter for everyone and not just fans of the genre. A wild statement for a series that’s always felt more hardcore and impenetrable than the rest. Whether you’re a newcomer playing with Modern controls or a veteran with a fight stick and a vendetta, Street Fighter 6 feels like the most approachable and welcoming fighter I’ve ever played without ever once sacrificing its potential complexity and fighting spirit.
Game Rant: 4.5 / 5 by Liam Ferguson
But that's the risk Street Fighter 6 took when it merged three game-sized modes. World Tour is the accessible and content-rich single-player attraction that the genre has been waiting for and has fully gamified the process of learning a fighting game. Battle Hub is one of the most enticing fighting game lobbies ever, introducing variety in the name of fun. Fighting Ground fills any gaps left by the other modes, while also emphasizing traditional gameplay and SF6's new mechanics like the Drive System. These modes easily hook their intended audience, and it seems Street Fighter 6 has reclaimed its spot at the top of the fighting game world.
