Action adventure game inspired by the films of Akira Kurosawa. In Trek to Yomi we play as a young samurai who, in order to fulfill his oath made to his dying mentor, must face the forces of evil. The title was developed by Leonard Menchiari and Flying Wild Hog studio.
Trek to Yomi is a side-scroll platform action game. It was developed by an independent developer Leonard Menchiari (author of Riot: Civil Unrest), in cooperation with the Polish studio Flying Wild Hog, and published by Devolver Digital.
Trek to Yomi takes us on a journey to feudal Japan. Main hero of the game is Hiroki - young samurai who swore to his dying master that he will protect his city from all threats. Although in the moment of trial the protagonist succumbs to the pressure of evil forces, he finally decides to take up the sword once again and try to fulfill the oath made to his mentor.
In Trek to Yomi is mainly a side-scroller, although selected scenes are presented from various cinematic shots. During the gameplay we move through cinematic locations and fight not only other swordsmen, but also supernatural creatures. We chop down enemies with a sword or hit them with ranged weapons (shuriken, bow or cannon). Fights are dynamic and require from us both agility and attention.
Trek to Yomi has a unique, monochromatic graphics, which, combined with the soundtrack and characteristic camera shots, makes us feel as if we were watching one of the films by the famous Akira Kurosawa.
