X3: Farnham's Legacy is the next installment of the well-known space simulator series. This time we play the role of a pilot who is stuck on the frontiers of the known space. The game was developed by Egosoft studio.
X3: Farnham's Legacy is a sequel to X3: Albion Prelude, a space simulator released in 2011, published as a free add-on to the previous installment. The game offers a new story campaign and several novelties in the gameplay. It was developed and published by Egosoft studio.
The action of X3: Farnham's Legacy takes place years after the end of the previous game's scenario and the destruction of the gate. Player starts the campaign in a distant part of the universe and must try to find a way back to civilization.
In of gameplay mechanics, X3: Farnham's Legacy copies most of the solutions from X3: Terran Conflict and X3: Albion Prelude - so it is a quite classic space simulator, in which we explore the galaxy, complete missions and fight encountered enemies.
Players can choose from a wide range of different ships (including one truly unique). The developers have also introduced a new space exploration mechanic (along with it, the Explorers Guild appeared in the game), added quarters for the main character, a space station building system and diplomacy. Also new is the ability to acquire a sector and the career of a star pirate.
Fans of the series will also be pleased with the improvements of many interface elements (we have, among others, an encyclopaedia and a revised journal) and for mods.
In X3: Farnham's Legacy we can play only solo. The core of the game is the story campaign.
X3: Farnham's Legacy features a 3D graphics. The graphics design do not impress with anything special (space is probably the best), but the game offers a charming sci-fi atmosphere.
